Salvation Army of Port Chester, New York

Salvation Army

This week I've decided to take a little break from my extreme consumer habits. I wanted to showcase and shine the spotlight on a really great thrift store and an amazing organization.

The Salvation Army of Port Chester, NY is a thrift store that I have come to visit very frequently.
With great honesty and profound ignorance, when I initially visited this store, I thought that it would be dirty and contain nothing but raggedy clothes; even still, I wanted to give it a try.
I first visited the Salvation Army this summer and upon leaving I purchased 6 designer items for a combined total of $20. Among these items was an Anne Klein skirt and blouse and Cole Haan Flats.
None of these items where neither dirty nor raggedy, and in fact were only mildly worn.
After returning to the Salvation Army numerous times, I became more curious about this great organization. I made friends with the employees and they told me that people of all socioeconomic classes and races come to this particular Salvation Army. Because of the area in which this Salvation Army is located, people from the wealthiest counties in Westchester donate their clothes, shoes and other items. Some of these counties include; Rye Brook, Greenwich, Larchmont, Rye, Old Greenwich, and other affluent, neighboring towns.
What’s most amazing about this Salvation Army and all the Salvation Army’s across the U.S and internationally, is whenever you make a purchase, a percentage of your money goes to those in need.

Jeffrey Campbell 'Brown suede 'Wood' buckle, Slouched Boots'

Its getting cold outt and I needed a new pair of boots!!! Look what I found!!! Not at all to sound like I'm taunting, but I found these NEVER WORN Jeffery Campbell boots at a thrift/consignment store in Port Chester, NY. I payed $80, which all things considered is extremely reasonable for a brand new pair of Jeffery Campbell's. These retail at $150, and for the lovely stranger who gave these away, I LOVE YOU!!!

Dooney & Bourke, 'All Weather Leather' Vintage Handbag

I remember when I first saw this purse. The smell of the leather, the feel of the interior. I knew it was meant to belong to me! Seriously this bag is a rare find. I hate to brag, but this Vintage, All Weather Leather Dooney & Bourke bag speaks for itself! I purchased this handbag for $25 (insert >> GASPP!)  from a  thrift store in Brewster, Ny. During its original circulation in the 80s and 90s this bag retailed at $350. Currently on the Dooney&Bourke website a similiar collectors version retails at $235. My bag is in mint condition! <3
